Playing Catch Up

Happy Christmas Eve, everyone! It’s chilly here this morning, but I’m still not really feeling that Christmas spirit. Digging deep to find it today!

I know, I know. It’s been a while since you’ve read one of my blog posts. But, I’m back! A lot has changed in the past couple of weeks, so I’ll just fill you in on some of the highlights.

Despina’s Visit
About two weeks ago, one of my best friends from U of I came to visit me at Walt Disney World. She hadn’t been to Disney since she was a lot younger, so we had a lot of catching up to do. We went to all four parks, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, Downtown Disney and five resorts in a little over 2 days. It was a whirlwind, but we accomplished a lot!

Despina conquered her childhood fears and met Mickey Mouse!

Since she was here during the holiday season, I was able to show her the Osborne Lights! We rushed over there on the first night after dinner at the Grand Floridian Cafe and before the Christmas Party. She was able to meet a few of my roommates, and then we headed right back to the Contemporary parking lot. (I’m no rookie when it comes to MK parking.)

The Osborne Lights, a definite Christmas must-do!

After Disney, we headed to her grandparents’ condo on the beach. I was only able to stay one night, but I had a great time meeting them and eating her grandma’s home-cooked meals. Her grandparents were so caring and even sent me home with some food. I also went jet skiing for the first time!

Saying Goodbye
Unfortunately, about a week ago, my roommate Bri got hit by a car while walking into Walgreens and got beaten up. Luckily, she had no serious injuries, but she decided she needed to go home (definitely the right choice). On one of her last nights, she wanted to watch the fireworks and parade at Magic Kingdom so Jenn, Cait and I took her. Woah, it was a workout and, at times, scary. Disney’s guests can be so oblivious and rude, but we were glad we went!

Saying goodbye to Bri was hard, but it was only the first of many goodbyes we will have to make. The end of the DCP is (fortunately and unfortunately is) near, and it seems like quite a few of the CPs, myself included, are more than ready to move on to the next chapter of their lives.

Fun days off
At the CP graduation, we all received Mickey graduation ears. A few of my roommates got their ears embroidered, so Amy, Jenna and I all went to get ours embroidered as well. It only costs $3.50! First, we stopped by the Grand Floridian to say hi to Jenn, and then we hopped on the monorial to go to Magic Kingdom!

These girls are some of the best friends I could ever ask for.

We had some fun photo ops around Magic Kingdom, danced in the “Move It, Shake It, Celebrate It” parade, watched Cinderella’s Wish (the castle lighting ceremony) and met Cinderella and Aurora.

Cinderella Castle is so beautiful.

Hanging with our girl, Cinderella!

Previously in the week, I had casually mentioned going to SeaWorld and wasn’t sure if any of the girls would want to go. Both Amy and Jenna had the day off and immediately agreed to my idea! We headed off to SeaWorld early in the morning, paid for parking, quickly parked and headed inside the park for a day filled with fun and animals. We went on all the attractions in the park but the Antarctica exhibit (over an hour wait), saw three shows, including Shamu’s show, and went to the North Pole! Amy even made us play some carnival games, and we all left with dolphin and killer whale souvenirs.

Santa, is that really you?!

We had so much fun and stayed from park open to close. As we were walking out to my car, we realized none of us thought to look at where we parked the car. Oops! We spent about 20 minutes walking around the parking lot looking for it. I decided my car obviously had to have been stolen. We finally found it, hopped in and tried to exit the chaotic parking lot as quickly as possible, so we wouldn’t be locked out of our apartment! (When one roommate moves out, housing changes the locks and the office closes at 7 p.m.) We just barely made it back in time. Talk about an adventure!

I think this is long enough for a blog post! More to come soon.

Have a wild day! I only have six more scheduled shifts at Dinosaur and am hoping to give one or two away. I cannot wait to be done.
