Top 10 Moments of the DCP

Today marks one month since my Disney College Program ended. Exactly one month ago, I finished packing up my car. I turned in my DCP Housing I.D., my parking sticker and my apartment key, and I left Chatham 2104 (that’s building 2, not 20, security). I said “see you real soon” to some of the best friends I have ever made. Needless to say, it was a little emotional.

I couldn’t be happier with my decision to participate in the DCP! Since I didn’t do a sappy post the last day, here is the next best thing. These are my Top 10* Memories of the College Program.

10. DAK After Dark was a Halloween party for Animal Kingdom Cast Members. I decided to go to it on a whim at the end of my shift, so I was stuck in my Dinosaur costume during it. But, going to the event was worth it. We got to see a costume contest where Finding Nemo: The Musical performs, get scared on haunted trails (have I ever mentioned that I absolutely cannot stand anything scary?), ride rides, play games and eat free Mickey Premium Bars. Bonus: this is something I will never be able to go to again.

9. The very first housing event was themed a Monstrous Dance Party or something along those lines. It was one of the first times all of the roommates hung out, and we had a blast. Anyone who says the housing parties are lame are doing something wrong. 😉 I knew then that my roommates and I were not going to have any problems getting along! Winter Bash, another DCP Housing Event, was held at the Contemporary Resort. My DCP friends and I all got dressed up, pregamed and danced the night away. We found the best spot near the DJ and practically had the area to ourselves while the rest of the CPs were squished on the dance floor.

8. Any trip to Cowboys with the girls was always so much fun. I had never been line dancing before, but after I learned a few steps, I started having a blast. Country music isn’t always my favorite, but when I’m in the mood for it, I love it. I can’t wait to go line dancing again! Bri and I went to Epcot for the last day of the Food and Wine Festival then decided to head to Jellyrolls at the Boardwalk. Well, while at the Jellyrolls, we found out there was a baseball convention of some sort going on. We made friends with presidents of professional baseball teams and hung out with them for a while. It was literally unreal!

7. Going to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party dressed as Minions made so many funny memories. My creative roommates Jenn and Bri came up with our costumes. Seven of the us were able to go, and we had so much fun. Multiple characters in the parade pointed us out, and guests stopped us to take pictures of us. We made sure to visit Lori, our roommate who had to work, so we were all together for a moment.

6. Despina visited! One of my best friends from college came to visit. She spent about three days in Disney World and then went to her grandparents’ condo. She had only been to Disney once before, so I had fun trying to show her everything Disney has to offer. I think she’s convinced it may be one of the happiest places on earth. My family visited a few times, and every time they came, I was so excited! That’s just another perk of being a DVC member with points to use.

5. Spending time in Sanford with my Aunt, Uncle and Cousin was definitely a perk of living in Orlando. Growing up, I wasn’t able to spend much time with them since they were in Florida. I made so many special memories with them, like making caramel apples and going to the beach. My aunt definitely pampered me and gave me some very good life advice. I am very happy I was able to get in some quality time!

4. SeaWorld with Amy and Jenna was an extremely fun day! We did basically everything and saw some really awesome shows. I love that SeaWorld really increases awareness for the ocean and animals. Askershus in Norway with Lori was such a cute princess character meal! That day was filled with walking. We went from Epcot to Hollywood Studios and back, only taking the boat for a fraction of it. We saw the Osborne Lights and Fantasmic!

3. New Year’s Eve was definitely more fun than I ever imagined! Jenn and I decided to book a room at Coronado Springs and a group of us hung out there for a while (after I got off work, yuck) then went to the Grand Floridian to ring in the New Year. My friend Emily lives near Orlando and came to join us. Grand Floridian dropped 2014 balloons at midnight, and we got to avoid the crazy park crowds!

2. Cocoa Beach with Jenn and Cait was one of the best days of the program. Luckily, we had perfect weather, and we had so much fun frolicking on the beach instead of at work. We ate at a cute restaurant on the beach and just had a fun and relaxing day. Another day we went to eat the Kitchen Sink at the Beach Club. Our eyes were definitely bigger than our stomachs, but we got to cross that one off the bucket list!

1. My single, most favorite “moment” of the DCP was making some of the best friends I have ever had! Whether we were hanging out at the apartments, walking to Panera while listening to Frozen, making spontaneous trips to the parks, talking about ALL OF THE THINGS, or anything else, we were always having fun! I couldn’t have asked to meet better people or have better roommates. I am very blessed.

*I ran out of numbers! I have so many favorite moments; I’ve realized it’s impossible to narrow it down to 10. I have so many cherished memories from the DCP, and as cheesy as it sounds, I really did learn a lot about myself and others during the program. **You also might have noticed I cheated on a few numbers and really included two. Hey, it’s my blog, and I can do what I want!
***Also, I used “fun” a little excessively. Sorry! No other words accurately described my feelings.

I feel like I could write a book about my experiences, and maybe I will! 🙂
